Taste: powerful, tannin-rich, fruity
XXI - rom. 21, stands as a synonym for a wine that, detached from individual grape varieties, focuses exclusively on the terroir of the Bisamberg, in Vienna's 21st district.
Based on this idea, one of the original sites of the Bisamberg, the Riede Wiesthalen, where viticulture has been practiced for about 3000 years, was chosen. This vineyard, majestically enthroned high above Vienna, was recultivated and planted with vines in 2002, after a break of about 20 years.
The wine, made from 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, with impressive structure and silky tannins, ages in small barrels for about 24 months until its unfiltered filling.
Taste profile: Deep dark ruby garnet with opaque core, dark berry confit, ethereal, some mint, silky tannins, delicate cassis and licorice; structure and minerality in the long finish.
