The ruby-red chameleon: whether a young and fruit-driven wine or a massively structured premium red, Blauer Zweigelt is always a pleasure.
Taste: soft, velvety, fruity

At WEINGUT CHRIST in Wien-Jedlersdorf, Zweigelt covers around 10 % of the vineyard area and is planted in 2 different sites. A plot with old vines around 50 years old, which always delivers deeply structured wines, is superbly complemented by a younger one that shines above all with its charming fruit.

Zweigelt is an Austrian crossing and fairly widespread in all wine-growing regions, as it is Austria's most important red grape variety by area. This wine will probably reach its peak in about 1 to 2 years and should hold its level for several more years.

Contains sulphites.

Dense red colour with a delicate violet rim. On the nose it already shows lovely maturity, notes of heart cherry, liquorice and cassis. Elegant on the palate, good length with ripe tannin, sour cherry, iron, meaty. A great companion to barbecue.

The vineyards lie on Vienna's Bisamberg. Flysch, a sandstone compressed over millions of years and rich in lime and minerals, shapes the soils and gives the wines nobility and elegant freshness.
