Where barrenness ripens into character. Sometimes it is the hardest resistance that brings forth the greatest nature. In the middle of the Ried Gabrissen, a very special vineyard rises steep and unyielding, which for generations has been reverently called simply „Bruch“ (quarry). A name that says a lot: it bears witness to the former quarry and reveals the fascinating primal force of its geology.
Here, where time seems to stand still, Ice Age terrace gravel in the form of fist-sized white quartz pushes relentlessly to the surface. It is a barren, merciless soil that gives the vines nothing. But precisely in this renunciation lies the secret: the meagre conditions force the vine roots on a journey into the very depths to find nourishment.
This existential struggle reduces the berry volume to a minimum. But what remains is pure essence. In return for their hardship, the vines give the wine depth, uncompromising individuality and an unmistakable minerality. A Grüner Veltliner shaped by stone, Ice Age and stubbornness.

Fresh, juicy and lively, notes of green apple, ripe grapefruit and lime, with peppery spice
The „Bruch“, our showpiece site for Grüner Veltliner, lies on a steep south-facing slope on Vienna's Bisamberg. The soil conditions are shaped by alluvial Ice Age terrace gravel that reaches up to the surface.
