A devilish legend. Some wines mark not just a vintage, but the beginning of a new era. „Mephisto“ is the proud flagship of our house: the winery's most important red wine and at the same time a pioneer of its recent history. Since 1992 it has broken with conventions, when it became the very first red wine of our house in recent history to find its way into the bottle. It is the liquid origin of a great red passion.

Its name is legendary and came from the family council of the time. Everyone quickly agreed: even a good Christ does something devilishly good!

This fascinating temptation is always a ballet of highly elegant precision. The tone is set by Zweigelt from our oldest vineyards, which gives the wine its deeply authentic character and a fine, noble fruit. Aristocratic Cabernet Sauvignon gives the cuvée its proud, unbending backbone and structure, while velvety Merlot brings the two worlds together in a flattering marriage.

So as not to distort this subtle nobility, Mephisto may remain entirely itself in the cellar. After a long, careful maturation in wooden barrels, without interventions, it was bottled unfiltered. The result is not a heavy, clumsy wine, but a monument of flowing elegance. Unadulterated, profound and with a grace that lingers long.
