Our red luxury cuvée Mephisto is only made in truly special years. The composition of this wine depends on the vintage, but is always dominated by Austrian varieties. Mephisto 2021 consists of around 60 % Zweigelt, 20 % Merlot and 20 % Cabernet Sauvignon. Cabernet Sauvignon forms the backbone, Zweigelt from very old vines provides structure and Merlot the meaty core.
The careful combination of long-standing tradition with modern techniques is the top priority here. Particularly careful tending of the vines, rigorous yield restriction and sensitive vinification, in harmony with the unique microclimate and terroir of the Bisamberg, let a wine of special structure and harmony mature.
Mephisto is powerful, round, silky and incredibly elegant. Thanks to its complexity and fine tannins, the wine ages superbly.
