From extra to soloist. Sometimes nature writes its very own fascinating scripts. It was in 1998 that Franz Christ, with visionary instinct, planted the very first Shiraz vines on the Bisamberg. At the time there was a clear plan: this noble, world-famous grape variety was intended as a spicy, supporting cuvée partner for the great red flagship Mephisto.

But the vineyard had other plans. The very first harvests revealed the monumental potential of this extraordinary site. The grapes produced such profound spice, such dark, beguiling fruit and such majestic density that everyone paused in awe. It quickly became clear: this wine is too great to share. It was never blended into the cuvée. Instead, it has always been allowed to shine as a proud soloist, and it cuts a truly magnificent figure.

Turning this pure, untamed power into flowing elegance takes patience. This Shiraz matures carefully in wooden barrels for around 30 months, where it perfects its fine structure and silky texture. Bottled completely unfiltered, it sparkles in the glass today: a deeply moving monument of the Bisamberg that shows the power of pioneering spirit and the nobility of a great grape variety with great finesse.
